Hello and welcome potential employers,

An application during these trying times must seem very strange when most of the country is on a hiring freeze, but I believe any application is worth it. I believe the world will unfreeze, and sports will come back to life once more soon enough. I'm optimistic like that. When that time comes, I want to bring my passion and energy to your booths, sidelines, you name it in order and excite fans all over the state. It doesn’t matter what team or sport it is, because I’ll bring my best for the love of the game. One of the best feelings I remember as a kid is when I fell in love with sports. What hooked me was the chills I still get after every Mitch Holthus touchdown call for the Kansas City Chiefs. This is what I want to do for you. I have 25 live games under my belt and a handful of live, remote shows for 680 KFEQ Radio, the Fort Hays Tigers Sports Network and the MIAA Network. As for outside of broadcasting, I’m not just a one-trick pony. I’m young, but I have experience, which I believe makes for a good two-for-one special. I have won multiple awards for my work and pride myself on being able to tell a story in every format possible. Whether it's an 11-minute long documentary — which received best in my senior class in a course that doesn't see too many A's — or the thousand words a single photo can tell, I love to tell stories. I graduate in May and will do so with honors. I’m in a weird spot right now, as we all are with this COVID-19 pandemic. Due to this, I’m in the real world a little bit earlier than expected, but that’s fine by me. I'm sports and features savvy, quick witted and will never give up. I have failed before, but I believe that was my best teacher, as that helped me learn. I believe I'm a well rounded, Swiss-army knife type of creative that can produce the best content. My email is Derek.zimmermanguyer@gmail.com if you have any questions, which I hope you do.

Best,

Derek Zimmerman-Guyer
