A Little Background (on a little guy working in a gigantic work field)
I'm a guy from a fairly small town in a fairly small state with some large aspirations. Set to graduate with a degree in convergent journalism from Missouri Western State University in May, I have held and currently hold many different positions in the real-life field. I have been a sports, lifestyles and copy editor for my campus paper, hosted for The Western Windup podcast that I ran with my colleague, a sports reporter for News-Press NOW in the city of St. Joseph, Missouri, and a play-by-play/color commentator for multiple sports on the MIAA Network and KFEQ alongside Sports Director Dave Riggert. Sportscasting is the dream, and I've honestly had to go out of my way quite a bit to make what I've done already a reality. It seems that MWSU didn't consider sportscasting a possible career when setting the curriculum, but that's no biggie. I believe my passion and natural excitement helped give me a two-for-one special advantage when it comes to my lack in experience. My best broadcast work can be found in the Radio section, while my best photos are listed in the Photos section. If you'd like to check out my editing and videography skills, I suggest the Video section. For recap video and voice work, check out the Video Broadcast section. I have tons of experience writing, and you can read examples of my work in the Portfolio section or at News-Press NOW.
All I want is an opportunity to bring excitement and optimism into somebody's life, so be it with a call, a story, a photo or a video.
